Our Little Button

Josh and I have been through a lot of changes in our lives since we found out about Noah!  I think nature has done a good job giving parents 9 months to get ready, we certainly needed it.  This is the story of how we passed the time before Noah arrived.

Our lives were changed forever on February 4, 2010.  Well that is when we found out...the changes had already begun!  I was in disbelief so we got an ultrasound the next day.  Unfortunately, things are not exactly as TV had led me to believe...

4 weeks

This was not enough to conclude that the little spec was actually Noah.  I had to wait a week and go back.  That was not exactly what I wanted to hear but I waited.  As you can imagine, the week went by very slowly!

5 weeks

Within one week he had grown enough to see his heartbeat.  That tiny flicker on the screen was enough to make my heart melt!  Below are more of the sneak peaks we got of our sweet baby while we waited to meet him in person.

I had a lot to do to get ready for mommyhood!  But I also had some time, so Noah just tagged along while I enjoyed my last months of life as I knew it.  Noah had a lot of adventures in utero.  Here's a quick look at his first 9 months

I had a wonderful pregnancy! I couldn't have asked for anything better than carrying my sweet baby for those 9 months. Occasionally I miss the feeling of his hiccups or kicks but I am happy he is out and I can get to know him more every day!

A Brief 7 Month Update

I started organizing some pictures and decided I should put some words to them and share our stories!  I have had a little more freedom now that Noah plays on his own so I'll have more time to write.  He has lots of activities around the house to occupy his attention.  He loves his jumper, playpen, and recently his walker.  He is getting very good with his hands and loves toys with lights and sounds (me, not so much!) but his favorite is still the cups.  I get it though, cups are pretty fun; they're all different colors, he can chew on them, bang them together, fill them with water in the tub. My only problem with them is that I'm so anal I always want to have all of them together and of course they end up all over the house!

Noah News
Noah got his first tooth!!  He was so good while teething that we didn't even know it was coming.  It is pretty small but I can't believe he has a real tooth!  He's growing up so fast.  Speaking of growing, he is quickly outgrowing his 6 month clothes so I will have to go shopping soon.  I did a quick Amazon order for a set of 9 month onesies to hold us over.  I don't know what I would do without Amazon!

So, the reason Noah is growing so much is because he sucks down an 8 oz bottle in 10 minutes then is still hungry for more!  He has been eating baby food twice a day but it is not enough.  So we have finally moved on to third foods and Gerber Puffs for snacks in an attempt to fill his little pot belly.  I am excited because food is so much easier, not to mention cheaper, than formula!  A step closer to being done with it!

Two very recent developments are that I am looking into doing Gymboree classes and baby sign language with Noah.  More to come on that but in the mean time, here are some pics from May 2011...

We've advanced to bathtime in the real bath (sort of) and he loves it!

He loved that hat!

He likes eating books, which makes them difficult to read!

A Baby Story

For Noah's one month birthday I decided to get everyone a present and finally post some baby pictures!!  So we'll start with the story of Noah's birth...

For 9 months I was convinced that Noah was going to be born on 10-10-10, but since I was still pregnant at my doctor's appointment on 10-11-10 the doctor agreed she would induce labor if he still wasn't here by the 18th.  The date arrived and we were still pregnant so we got all of our stuff together and headed to the hospital.

The morning of delivery - 40 weeks and 5 days pregnant

The delivery could not have gone better!  The nurse started the pitocin at 11:45am and then broke my water half an hour later.  I started feeling my contractions about 1:15 and received an epidural pretty soon after that.  Josh and I watched some TV until the doctor came by around 5:30pm to check on me.  To our surprise, she said we were ready to start pushing!  I pushed until our little angel was born at 6:13pm.

I was so amazed by him!  He was so tiny and so perfect!

Our first family photos!

Everyone was excited to meet Noah and we were happy to have so much love around him!  Even when I was in labor, the waiting room was full of our family anxiously waiting to hold the new addition.  All of the new grandparents and Aunt Micaela were there along with one of Noah's three great grandmothers, MeeMaw.  Aunt Sarah couldn't come in from Dallas so she was constantly on the phone with my parents for updates!  Some of the other aunts, Mel and Coco (Courtney) came the first night too!  We were so happy that everyone could be there even though no one ended up being able to hold him that day because visiting hours ended before he was done in the nursery.

Our moms waiting for their grandson to be born

Gotta love them!

The next day at the hospital Noah got to meet some of the family and friends...

When it was time to go home we put Noah's Polo on him, he wasn't too happy but we captured the moment anyways!

Headed home!

Having Noah at home with us for the past month has been so wonderful!  It took a little while for me to get used to being a mom but I feel like we have settled a little more into our routine.  I have another 6 weeks before I go back to work and I can't wait to spend all of that time with my baby!
